Mountain Hawks picked fifth in men's golf preseason poll

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's golf team was picked fifth out of eight teams in the Patriot League preseason poll, announced Wednesday. The Mountain Hawks finished third at last season's league championship and garnered 45 points in this year's poll, which is voted on by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.
Defending league champion Loyola topped the poll with 97 points and 13 first place votes, followed by Army with 82 points and the other three first place votes. Navy was picked third with 69 points followed by Colgate with 57. The Raiders will host the Patriot League Championship at the Seven Oaks Golf Club April 25-26.
Bucknell was picked sixth just two points behind Lehigh while Lafayette and Holy Cross round out the poll.
During the fall season Lehigh finished in the top half of its first three tournaments, highlighted by a fifth place finish at the Rutgers Invitational and a third place finish at the Tuxedo Autumn Invitational, hosted by Columbia.
Lehigh will be led by a pair of two-time All-Patriot League selections in senior Carlos Kim and junior Harley Abrams.
The Mountain Hawks' spring season begins March 14 at the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular, hosted by George Mason in Florida. Lehigh will also play in tournaments hosted by Villanova, Lafayette and Navy and will take on the rival Leopards in stroke play leading up to the Patriot League Championship.
