Shook welcomes four in 2014 recruiting class

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh head coach Dave Shook has announced the addition of four student-athletes who will join the Mountain Hawks' women's tennis program in the fall. Three of the four newcomers hail from New Jersey: Abby Duddy, Kirstin Godau and Briana "Breezy" Maravich, while the fourth, Christina Auyeung, hails from Michigan.
"This recruiting class may be the strongest in program history," said Shook, who enters his 19th season coaching Lehigh's women and his third coaching the women exclusively. "The addition of Breezy Maravich, Kirstin Godeau and Abby Duddy ensures us the depth needed to contend for a Patriot League title. All three are highly skilled doubles players and hungry to contribute."
Auyeung comes to Lehigh from Herbert Henry Dow High School in Midland, Mich. She is a singles National Open champion as well as a three-time doubles National open champion. Auyeung not only excelled on the court, but in the classroom as well as she was a honor roll student who graduated Cum Laude. Auyeung will study in Lehigh's College of Arts and Sciences.
"The acquisition of Christina Auyeung, the No. 86 player in the country, will allow us to contend for the top singles and doubles points in every match," Shook said. "Christina has an exceptional record in both singles and doubles and is well accustomed to performing on the USTA's grandest stages."
Duddy joins the Mountain Hawks from Communications High School in Sea Girt, N.J. She has been elected to the Manasquan High School Hall of Fame and is a recipient of the Manasquan High School Varsity Athlete Award. A Monmouth County All-Shore Athlete, Duddy also received the Al-Team Athlete award. Off the courts, Duddy is a National Honor Society member and a Jersey Shore Medical Center Junior Ambassador. She is enrolled in Lehigh's College of Business and Economics.
Godau comes to Lehigh from Montville Township High School in New Jersey. In 2012, she was a State Singles Quarterfinalist and made the New Jersey Group Three first Team. This past year, Godau received the President's Education Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence. Godau will also be studying Business at Lehigh.
Maravich rounds out the incoming class as she comes to Lehigh from Moorestown High School in New Jersey. A three star recruit according to tennisrecruiting.net, Maravich is a two-time Burlington County Open champion, a two-time county Player of the Year and a two-time South Jersey Player of the Year. The honor student is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
The Mountain Hawks lost three seniors to graduation from a team that improved to a 7-10 record in 2014. Lehigh will play in four fall events beginning with the Navy Invitational in September.
