Play suspended due to darkness on day one of Wildcat Invitational

MALVERN, Pa. – The Lehigh men's golf team officially opened its spring season Monday at the Wildcat Invitational at White Manor Country Club. The Mountain Hawks shot a solid opening round of 25 over par 309 but they did not finish their second round as play was cut short due to darkness. Lehigh was 28 over par for its second round when play was halted as the Mountain Hawks currently sit in a tie for 12th place in the 16 team field.
Sophomore Harley Abrams led the way for Lehigh on Monday with an opening round 73. Abrams was three over par through 14 holes in the afternoon and is currently tied for third at five over par.
Senior Alex DiClemente started strong with an opening round 74, but is currently 11 over in his second round and is tied for 42nd, nine strokes behind Abrams.
Also competing for the Mountain Hawks were junior Zach Allinson, sophomore Johnny Heydt and junior Carlos Kim. Allinson shot 85 in the morning and is six over for the afternoon to tie for 68th place. Heydt started with a six over par 77 but was 16 over in the afternoon and is tied for 75th, while Kim is trying to bounce back from an opening round 86 but is eight over in round two and tied for 80th.
Newcomer Dave Olexson is competing as an individual and completed two rounds Monday. He sits in 87th place at 86-85-171.
Army's Peter Kim has the lead among players who completed two rounds Monday. Kim shot 71 and 72 and is one over par at 143. Abrams is one of five players who sits four shots back. Drexel's Christopher Crawford shot one under par 70 in the morning, and is even par through 14 holes in the afternoon.
Youngstown State leads the team standings at 31 over par but the Penguins did not finish their second round after a first round 298. Columbia leads the way for the 11 teams that completed 36 holes Monday. The Lions shot 311-297-608 and leads Patriot League member Army by one stroke. Drexel did not finish but is tied with the Black Knights at 41 over par.
The Wildcat Invitational concludes Tuesday with five teams finishing their second rounds: Youngstown State, Drexel, Butler, Lehigh and host Villanova. Play is slated to begin at 8 a.m. at White Manor Country Club.
