Mountain Hawks third after 36 holes at Colgate Invitational

HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Lehigh men's golf team opened up its fall campaign with the opening 36 holes of play at the Colgate Invitational presented by Steelberry Saturday at the Seven Oaks Golf Course. The defending Patriot League champions are off to a strong start as the Mountain Hawks sit in third place in the 14 team field with a two-round score of 290-297-587.

Lehigh's opening round score of 290 was second lowest behind Youngstown State, which shot 286. The Mountain Hawks are six strokes behind the front-running Penguins (286-295-581) while Binghamton sits in second place at 303-281-584.

Sophomore Harley Abrams is Lehigh's top individual after 36 holes after shooting 70-74-144 to sit in a four-way tie for second. Abrams was tied for first place after the opening round with his opening 70. Senior Alex DiClemente is tied for sixth place at one over par 145 (71-74).

Others competing for Lehigh included freshman Ethan Wall and junior Zach Allinson, who are tied for 16th place at 149. Wall opened with a 76 and shot a 73 in round two, while Allinson opened with a 73 on Saturday and shot 76 in his second round. Junior Carlos Kim rebounded from an opening round 82 with a second-round 73. Kim, who is competing as an individual, is tied for 38th place at 155. Rounding out the contingent of Mountain Hawks is senior Andrew Arnold who sits in a tie for 53rd place after shooting 81-77-158.

Trevor Jones of Youngstown State owns the individual 36-hole lead at one under par 143 (70-73). Abrams is one of four players one shot off the pace.
