Lehigh and Towson battle to scoreless tie
8/8/2004 12:00:00 AM | Men's Soccer
Bethlehem, PA – Lehigh and Towson played to a 0-0 tie on Sunday night at the Ulrich Sports Complex. The Mountain Hawks had numerous scoring opportunities as they registered 27 shots on the evening, but were unable to find the back of the net. Junior Sam Bishop played all 110:00 minutes of the contest, but only picked up one save along the way, as the Lehigh defense was extra stingy all night long and did not allow the Tigers (0-0-1) many offensive opportunities.
Freshman Maciek Serafin led the Mountain Hawks (0-0-1) with nine shots, including two that caromed off of the cross bar, and senior Steve Fisher was equally aggressive on the attack with eight shots.
Coach Dean Koski was pleased with the Lehigh defense and its attack, but would have liked to take home the victory. "That was the best we've played throughout the entire preseason. I can't remember the last time we had 27 shots, so I was happy with that. We just have to learn how to execute when we get that deep into the zone."
The Mountain Hawks return to action on Friday, when they travel to Easton to take on Rider University in the Lehigh-Lafayette Classic. Game time is set for 5:00.
