Mountain Hawks start strong at Lafayette Invitational

EASTON, Pa. – Behind a balanced team effort, the Lehigh men's golf team sits in a tie for second place in the 18-team Lafayette Invitational after the opening round of play Sunday at Northampton Country Club. The Mountain Hawks shot 303 on day one tying Central Connecticut State for second place, one stroke behind Saint Peter's which holds the 18-hole lead.
Lehigh's five players averaged out at 76 in the opening round of play, with a low round of 75, three rounds of 76 and one of 77.
Sophomore Carlos Kim shot 36-39 for his three over par 75 and leads the Mountain Hawks individually, tying for 13th after round one. Senior Sean Keller and juniors Andrew Arnold and Alex DiClemente are tied for 19th with rounds of 76. Keller and DiClemente both shot 40-36 on the day, while Arnold followed up a front nine 35 with a second nine score of 41. Freshman Harley Abrams shot 40-37-77 to tie for 31st place.In addition, freshman Jonathan Heydt and sophomore Zach Allinson competed as individuals, with Heydt shooting 85 to tie for 91st after one round while Allinson shot 86 to tie for 95h.
Drexel's Christopher Crawford and Hofstra's Brandon Shin shot even par 72 to take the 18-hole individual lead by one stroke over Evan McGrain of Rider.
The Lafayette Invitational concludes Monday with the final 18 holes beginning at 9 a.m.
