Lehigh heads to Navy for final tournament before PL Championship

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's golf team will play in its final event before hosting next week's Patriot League Championship as the Mountain Hawks head to Annapolis, Maryland for the two-day Navy Spring Invitational. Five of the seven Patriot League schools that sponsor men's golf will play a total of 36 holes Saturday and Sunday at the Naval Academy Golf Club.
The Mountain Hawks are coming off a four-stroke win over rival Lafayette in stroke play Tuesday on the Grace Course at Saucon Valley 
Country Club, the same course where Lehigh will host the league championship April 27-28. All seven Mountain Hawks broke 80 on Tuesday, led by sophomore Carlos Kim, who shot 75 the low round among the 14 competitors. Junior Alex DiClemente was right behind with a 76.

Junior Alex DiClemente was right behind with a 76.In its last tournament appearance, Lehigh won the 18-team Lafayette Invitational April 7-8 at Northampton Country Club. Freshman Harley Abrams led Lehigh in that tournament, tying for fourth after shooting a final round 69. Three Mountain Hawks finished in the top ten individually with DiClemente tying for sixth and Kim tying for tenth.
The two-day, 36-hole Navy Invitational features 21 teams, three of which are Navy teams. In addition to the Navy Blue, Gold and White teams, Lehigh will compete against Bucknell, Colgate, Delaware, Emory, George Washington, Hartford, Lafayette, LIU-Brooklyn, Mount St. Mary's, Penn, Saint Francis (Pa.), Saint Joseph's, Siena, Towson, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
The Naval Academy Golf Club plays 6,611 yards from the longest tees for a par of 71.
Last year the Mountain Hawks battled awful weather conditions to finish 15th out of 20 teams. Among Lehigh's returning players, DiClemente tied for 53rd last year to lead the Mountain Hawks. Penn is the defending team champion following a four stroke win over George Washington.
The event gets underway with 18 holes Saturday, beginning at 8 a.m. The final 18 holes will be played on Sunday.
