Mountain Hawks look to build on strong start at Bucknell Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's golf team is set to travel to Lewisburg, Pa. this weekend to compete in the Bucknell Invitational. The two-day event will begin Friday with 36 holes at the Bucknell Golf Course and will conclude with the final 18 holes on Saturday.
Lehigh will be joined in the field by Colgate, Canisius, Hampton, Laval and Messiah, plus two five-man teams from the host Bison.
The Mountain Hawks are coming off a strong showing in the Colgate Invitational last weekend. Lehigh had four players place in the top ten in the event and finished second as a team behind tournament champions Youngstown State. The Colgate Invitational was originally supposed to be a 54 hole event, but inclement weather forced the tournament to be just 36 holes.
Freshman Harley Abrams led the squad as he finished in a three-way tie for second in the tournament. The rookie started off his first ever collegiate event with an 80 on Saturday, but bounced back Sunday with a two under par 70 to finish at a six over par 150.
Junior Alex DiClemente finished just behind Abrams after he posted a 151 that was good enough
for a tie for fifth. DiClemente posted Lehigh's lowest score of the day Saturday with a 74, and finished the event with a 77.

Junior Andrew Arnold finished at 154 (76-78) to tie for 13th place and sophomore Zach Allinson, Lehigh's fifth scoring player, tied for 29th after shooting 159 (80-79). Freshman Jonathan Heydt competed as an individual for the Mountain Hawks and shot a 157 (80-77) to tie for 25th.
Bucknell also played in the Colgate Invitational and finished third. Their top scorer in the event, senior Dan Bernard, tied for tenth after shooting a 76 Friday and 77 Saturday for a 36-hole total of 153. Bucknell's team total was a 618, ten shots behind Lehigh's 608.
Last season Lehigh finished in sixth place in a 13-team field at the Bucknell Invitational. Among returning players for the Mountain Hawks, Arnold tied for 20th place, Allinson tied for 23rd, and DiClemente finished in a tie for 33rd place.
Action begins Friday morning on the par 70, 6,400 yard Bucknell Golf Course. The final 18 holes will be played on Saturday.
