Women's tennis returns home to face Navy, Hunter

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's tennis team is trying to extend its winning streak to three this Sunday as the Mountain Hawks host the Midshipmen of Navy. The Mountain Hawks are coming off a win against Patriot League opponent Holy Cross last Sunday in their Patriot League opener. The two-match winning streak the Mountain Hawks are currently on is their first of the season, as the Mountain Hawks bring a 3-9 overall record into this two match home stand.
The Midshipmen come into the match on a four match winning streak. They are currently 2-0 in league play and 17-9 overall. Navy and Army are both 2-0 early in the league season, while Lehigh is part of a three-way tie for first place at 1-0.The Mountain Hawks are coming off their second shutout win of the season against the Crusaders of Holy Cross. The Mountain Hawks dominated both the doubles and the singles matches. Lehigh did not lose more than three games in any doubles matches and took all six singles matches, with freshmen Jenai Bilimoria and Jill Sloand pitching 6-0, 6-0 shutouts at No. 2 and No. 6 singles.
The Midshipmen of Navy have been solid all year. They come into the match winning their last two league tilts against Colgate and Bucknell by identical 6-1 scores. The match against Lehigh is the last Patriot League match for the Midshipmen this season and they have three more matches until the Patriot League tournament begins.
Last season the Navy handled the Mountain Hawks easily, winning the match 6-1. Izzy Breit was the only player to win for the Mountain Hawks accounting for their lone point in the match, with a win at number six singles.
On Monday Lehigh will wrap-up the brief home home stand when the Mountain Hawks host Division III Hunter College from New York City at 4 p.m.
Sunday's Lehigh-Navy match will begin at 2 p.m. inside the Lewis Tennis Center.
