BETHLEHEM, Pa. – With only two more weeks before this year’s Patriot League championship, the Lehigh men’s golf team begins the stretch run of its season this weekend when the Mountain Hawks travel to Annapolis, Maryland to compete at the 2010 Navy Invitational. The event will take place at the Naval Academy Golf Course, which features 6,611 yards of golf and is a par-71 course. William S. Flynn designed the course, which opened in 1916.
Lehigh was last in action the weekend of April 10-11 when the Mountain Hawks put forth an impressive showing at the Lafayette Invitational at Center Valley Golf Club. Lehigh shot a 615 over the course of 36 holes, including a 289 on the final 18 to secure its fifth place finish. Doug Marcincin led the way for the Brown and White as he shot a 150 (78, 72) and tied for sixth place individually.
At last year’s Navy Invitational, Lehigh tied for ninth place after the Mountain Hawks shot a 608 (295, 313) in the two-day event. Marcincin had a very strong showing after shooting a 146 (72, 74) which placed him in a tie for fourth place overall.
This weekend’s action will get underway on Saturday morning and conclude with the final round beginning on Sunday morning.
