Playing out of position at center-back, Omsberg led Lehigh to a 1-0 win over NJIT on Tuesday and 2-1 league win over American on Saturday. The Mountain Hawks allowed only seven total shots on goal in those two games.
This marks the fourth straight week a Mountain Hawks' player has taken home a weekly honor. Last week, junior Neal Melchionni earned offensive laurels while also cracking the College Soccer News National Team of the Week.
Omsberg becomes the fifth Lehigh player overall to be honored, joining senior James Graf and junior Kevin Strunk who were also named Defensive Player of the Week, on Sept. 21 and Oct. 5, respectively. Senior Jonathan Nydell also earned Goalkeeper of the Week on Oct. 11.
The Mountain Hawks return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Yale for a nonconference game. Gametime is set for 7 p.m. They return to league play next Sunday afternoon at Army.
