BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh completed a sweep over its archrival Lafayette in track and field with two more victories over the Leopards at the Lafayette Dual on Sunday. The Mountain Hawks men and women each defeated Lafayette on the cross country course in the fall, the indoor track in the winter and now on the outdoor track in the spring.

The Lehigh men rolled to a convincing 115-88 victory, winning 13 of the 19 events. The Lehigh women only won eight of 19 events, but compiled enough overall points to hold on for the 108-95 victory to complete the sweep.

“It feels great,” Lehigh head coach Matt Utesch said after finishing out the sweep. “I’m so happy for our seniors. They get to go out undefeated against Lafayette, and that’s awesome.”

Scott Robinson was named the Athlete of the Meet after winning four events on the day. Robinson took home wins in the short hurdles, long hurdles, 400 meters and 4X400 relay.

“Scott Robinson was unstoppable,” Utesch said. “He was all over the place and he did a really nice job.”

Emily Settle put up big numbers for the Mountain Hawks on the women’s side, qualifying for the ECAC Championships in the hammer throw with the win.

While the Lehigh men exerted their dominance across all events by winning 13 of the 19 total competitions, the Lehigh women took a more unorthodox approach to beating the Leopards. The Mountain Hawks only won eight of the 19 events overall, but were able to make up for those points by finishing first and second in seven of those eight events.

“We knew that we could do a lot of damage on the track, and we did,” Utesch said. “Where we did good stuff, we did great stuff.”
