Lehigh falls to American in league opener

Washington DC – Lehigh dropped a 5-2 decision to American Sunday in its Patriot League opener. With the loss the Mountain Hawks fall to 8-4 overall, 0-1 in the Patriot League.
Lehigh got out of the gates slow on Sunday, falling in all three doubles matches. The tandems of Kristen Nowicki/Kristen Mulstay, Jamie Fass/Andrea Scott, and Alina Kors/Maria Anorga fell 9-7, 8-1, and 8-6 respectively.
In singles action, the Mountain Hawks managed wins at first and sixth singles. In first singles, Nowicki moved to 11-0 on the season as American’s Katarina Kollarova retired with a wrist injury, while Kors earned a 7-5, 6-1 win over Brandi Klingman.
Lehigh returns to action on Tuesday at Villanova. Match time is 2:30.
