Tennis squad competes in league Championships

West Point, NY – The Lehigh women’s tennis squad competed on Saturday in day one action of the Patriot League Fall Tournament. The Brown & White put on an impressive showing, placing two of six competitors into the semi-finals of the winners bracket. Lehigh also advanced three players to the semi-finals of the elimination bracket. Kristen Nowicki advanced to the semi-finals on the shoulders of a first round bye, along with a two set win over Lauren Erickson of Colgate, 7-6(7) and 7-5. Nowicki will face Katarina Kollarova of American in Sundays’ final. Also advancing for Lehigh is Kristin Mulstay. Mulstay defeated Brandi Kingman of American 6-3 and 6-1 then toppled #2 Sheila Rao of Colgate 7-6(5) and 6-1. Mulstay will battle Lyndsey Nolt of Army in the finals. Advancing for the Mountain Hawks in the elimination bracket was Maria del Carmen Anorga, Alina Kors, and Danielle Suchow. Anorga will face Shannon Rowe of Lafayette Sunday, while Kors and Suchow will face Lindsey Suffredini of Colgate and Melissa Rauch of American respectively. In doubles action, Lehigh advanced two of its three entrants into the quarterfinals. The teams of Kristen Nowicki/Maria del Carmen Anorga and Jamie Fass/Kristin Mulstay each advanced with 8-4 wins.
