Lehigh makes strong showing at ECAC's

Flushing Meadows, NY – As the Lehigh men’s tennis team competed on its home court in the Patriot League Championships, the Lehigh women traveled north to compete in the ECAC Women’s Championships at the US Tennis Center, home of the US Open. Lehigh was selected to participate along with 15 other squads in an effort to determine who the best team on the east coast is. Competing for the Mountain Hawks was junior Kristen Nowicki, sophomore Maria del Carmen Anorga, sophomore Jamie Fass, sophomore Kristin Mulstay, junior Alina Kors, sophomore Danielle Suchow, and senior Andrea Scott. In day one action, the Brown & White trio of Nowicki, Anorga, and Fass were each defeated in singles matches while Anorga/Mulstay and Suchow/Kors fell in doubles action. In day two action, Lehigh and its combatants returned to the USTC courts to square off against stiff competition. Nowicki was one of two Mountain Hawks’ team members to pick up a win Sunday as she defeated James Madison’s Margie Zesinger 5-6, 6-1, and 10-2. The other squad member to notch a win for Lehigh was Jamie Fass. Fass defeated Rebecca Vanderelt 7-6 and 6-2. Also competing Sunday was Anorga, Kors, Fass, and Scott. Lehigh opens its spring season on February 9 against Drexel. Match time is 9:00 a.m.
