The Lehigh Women’s Tennis Team has stepped up to the challenge this spring, with success against some of the toughest teams they have ever faced. Their record now stands at 8-4, illustrating both their stacked schedule as well as their determination to come out on top. Some of their most celebrated victories for the season include wins against archrival Lafayette, huge upsets over both West Virginia and Delaware, as well as a victory against Southeastern Louisiana during their spring trip. Junior Rachel Samson at number one singles has been plagued with injuries throughout the entire season, but has continuously fought hard to play through them. She has recorded an outstanding season thus far with an 8-2 season record, miraculous considering her injuries. Also dominating this season is the powerhouse, All-Patriot League first doubles team of Samson and senior captain Erica Feinman. The duo has been virtually unstoppable throughout the season, demonstrating their excellent compatibility in play as well as their determination to succeed. The biggest surprise of the season has come from the freshmen duo of Kristin Mulstay and Jamie Fass at third doubles. The pair has unexpectedly risen to the challenge, recording huge wins against some of the hardest teams they have faced. All in all, Lehigh’s Women’s tennis is hot this season. The remainder of the year will undoubtedly bestow some more difficult matches upon them, as they will have to fight hard through both American and Army to rise to the top of the Patriot League standings, but the heart and will they have demonstrated thus far indicate that they are up for the challenge.
