2001 Season Review

The Lehigh Women’s Tennis Team started off slow but responded by winning five out of its last six matches including a 4-3 victory over preseason favorite Colgate. With a strong regular season showing in conference play, the Mountain Hawks earned the top seed in the Patriot League Tournament but were upset by the eventual winners Army in the semifinals, ending the season with a 7-6 record and a 2-1 mark in the conference. Freshman Rachel Samson (Milwaukee, WI/Nicolet) was the No.1 player this season, compiling an 11-2 singles record and a 9-3 record at No. 1doubles with junior Erica Feinman (Dix Hills, NY/Half Hollow Hills East). For her outstanding play, Samson was named to the All Patriot League Team in singles and to the all league team in doubles with Feinman. At No. 2 singles, Feinman went 8-3. Senior Lauren DeCarlo (Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) was 8-4 at No.3 and 0-1 at No.2. Junior Meggan Denker (Wilmington, DE/Concord) went 7-4 at No. 4 and 0-1 at No. 3. Sophomore Andrea Scott (Wethersfield, CT/Wethersfield) was the No. 5, compiling a 5-7 record and an 0-1 mark at No. 4. Freshman Alina Kors (River Vale, NJ/Pascack Hills) was 5-5 at No. 6 singles and 1-0 at No.5. Senior Megan Bramble (Worton, MD/Kent County) saw action at 6th singles, going 0-2, but was mainly used in doubles as she was teamed in six different combinations compiling a 7-5 overall record. Junior Julie Moscow (Wynnewood, PA/Lower Merion) appeared in four doubles pairings, going 3-1. Freshman Renee Kaplan (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) was 1-0 at No. 6 and 0-1 at No.3 doubles.
