BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh returns to the courts this weekend as the Mountain Hawks will wrap-up their fall schedule by hosting the Lehigh Fall Tennis Championships Saturday and Sunday on the Goodman Campus. The Mountain Hawks will host women’s teams from Delaware, Fordham and Marist for two days of tennis matches inside the Lewis Tennis Center and on the Ulrich Varsity Courts.
“We’re still testing the waters relative to our new players,” said Lehigh head coach Dave Shook. “We’re looking to see them continue to improve and gel as collegiate players. We’re still working to assist the younger players in their transition from junior tennis to the college game.
Shook continued, “Overall we’ll work on some new things. We’ll try some new doubles teams and see how we can improve and what we need to work on was we prepare for the spring.”
This weekend’s event is the third and final event of Lehigh’s fall season. The Mountain Hawks have played in the Cornell Fall Invitational and also hosted the Lehigh Men’s and Women’s Team Tennis Challenge two weeks ago. Lehigh’s women’s team features just eight players with freshmen Gena Levengood, Patricia Muething and Abbey Perl and sophomore walk-on Izzy Breit joining veterans Julie Arthofer, Stacey Reich, Kiera Murasko-Blank and Liz Piscitelli.
Action at the Lehigh Fall Tennis Championships begins Saturday morning on the Goodman Campus, and is expected to continue through Sunday afternoon.
