Arthofer lands on All-Patriot League first team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh junior Julie Arthofer has been named to the All-Patriot League women’s tennis first team, it was announced on Tuesday. Arthofer led the Mountain Hawks in Patriot League play with an unblemished record against league opponents at the No. 3 singles spot while also enjoying a strong season on Lehigh’s No. 2 doubles team alongside freshman Liz Piscitelli. The All-League honor is the third for Arthofer, who has named to the second team after each of her first two seasons.

Arthofer finished the regular season with an 8-9 singles record, including an 8-4 mark at the No. 3 flight. Against league foes, Arthofer was a perfect 4-0 during the regular season and added a win over Lafayette’s Sarah Sykes in the opening round of the Patriot League tournament.

In doubles play, Arthofer and Piscitelli were 8-9 overall and 8-6 at the No. 2 spot in the lineup. The duo went 3-1 against Patriot League opponents.

Also on Tuesday, the league announced its major award winners. League champion Army captured two awards as Annie Houghton was named Player of the Year and Paul Peck was honored as Coach of the Year. Bucknell’s Dumitrita Iepuras was named the league’s Rookie of the Year.

The Mountain Hawks finished the regular season at 6-11 and advanced to the Patriot League semifinals for the sixth straight year.
