Lehigh gets five through to second round at NCAAs

At 133, Matt Ciasulli won his first match in the pigtail round, 10-3 over David Hoffman of Virginia Tech, but was moved to the wrestlebacks after dropping an 8-1 final to No. 5 Zach Roberson of
At 149, Matt Anderson nearly got a takedown as the clock wound down that would have tied his match with
Derek Zinck showed no ill-effects from his injury at the EIWAs, beating The Citadel’s Dan Thompson 9-4. The match got the Lehigh team rolling, as they closed out the first round with three more wins in a row. Letters scored a bonus victory for the Mountain Hawks in his win over Jeremy Reitz from Clarion, then Brad Dillon and Travis Frick each followed up with victories at 174 and 184.
Dillon gave up two takedowns but scored on reversals both times to win his match over Frances Iorfido from Pittsburgh 12-8, and then incredibly Frick got his first pin on the season with one second remaining as he topped Ed Magrys of Eastern Michigan.
The second session of wrestling will see five Lehigh wrestlers continuing in the main bracket, while three Mountain Hawks will try to work their way back through the wrestlebacks.
