Six Mountain Hawks to Compete at U23 Nationals This Weekend in Ohio

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Freestyle season continues for six Lehigh wrestlers, who will compete this weekend at USA Wrestling's U23 Nationals, held in conjunction with the U20 World Team Trials at SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio.

Action in the U23 division, where all six Mountain Hawks are expected to compete, will begin Saturday and conclude Sunday. Lehigh's probable entries include:

70 kg – Seamus Mack
74 kg – Richie Grungo
74 kg – Anthony Evanitsky
79 kg – Brady Collins
79 kg – Duncan Christensen
79 kg – Liam Gil-Swiger

At the U23 level, wrestlers are competing for World Team spots. The U23 World Championships are set for Oct. 12-18 in Las Vegas. The U23 World Team spot at each weight will automatically go to a Senior National Team member at that weight. If no National Team member is eligible at a given weight, the spot will go to the winner of this weekend's tournament.Â

Last year's trip to Geneva was highlighted by a U23 national title at 57 kg for Mason Ziegler. Luke Stanich also won his best-of-3 series to make the U20 World Team on the way to his U20 World Championship last summer in Bulgaria.
