3/7/2026 5:59:00 PM | Men's Wrestling
WASHINGTON – Behind five individual champions and eight top-four place winners Lehigh men's wrestling captured its second consecutive EIWA team title and 40th overall with a triumph Saturday at American's Bender Arena. The Mountain Hawks went 5-0 in finals bouts and racked up 163.5 points, outpacing second place Navy by 28 points.
Â
Graduate student Sheldon Seymour (125), sophomores Luke Stanich (141) and Logan Rozynski (157) and senior Nathan Taylor (285) all won their second career EIWA titles, while senior Max Brignola won his first at 165.
Â
Lehigh also captured three major awards, with Taylor winning the Sheridan Award for most falls in the fastest time in the championship bracket, and the Fletcher Trophy for career points scored at the EIWA Championships. Head coach Pat Santoro was named EIWA Coach of the Year for the seventh time.
Seymour and Stanich helped create further distance from Navy with major decisions in their respective finals bouts. Seymour scored 15 points over the first two periods in a 17-6 major decision over Navy's Andrew Binni in the finals at 125. Stanich racked up four takedowns in a 14-3 major over Caedyn Ricciardi at 141.
Rozynski's second straight title came via a medical forfeit from Morgan State's Yannis Charles.
Â
Brignola made a takedown at the end of the first period stand in a 4-2
Taylor also made a late first period takedown stand in a 4-1 decision over Drexel's Nate Schon.
Â
Junior Rylan Rogers became Lehigh's sixth NCAA qualifier with a third place finish at 184. Rogers did not allow a point Saturday, winning an 8-0 major decision over Bucknell's Tyler Bienus in the consolation semifinals, and then a 5-0 win over Army's Cooper Haase to secure the third automatic berth to the NCAA Championships.
Â
Senior Carter Bailey (149) and graduate student JT Davis (197) picked up wins in the consolation semifinals but came up short in their bronze medal bouts.
Â
Bailey won by technical fall over America's Gage Owen but then fell to Navy's Kaemen Smith, settling for fourth place. Davis posted an impressive 11-3 major decision over Army's Wolfgang Frable, but dropped a 6-5 heartbreaker to Navy's Zyan Hall in the third place bout.
Â
Sophomore Richie Grungo posted a victory in his placement match, beating American's Hunter Hohman 10-3 to claim seventh place at 174.
Â
The Mountain Hawks' five individual champions were their most since crowning five in 2018 at Hofstra.
Â
Lehigh's qualifiers move on to the NCAA Championships, March 19-21 at Rocket Arena in Cleveland. At-large selections will be announced on Tuesday, March 10, with the seeds and brackets announced Wednesday, March 11 at 8 p.m. on NCAA.com.
