BETHLEHEM, Pa.  –  After winning its 40th EIWA team championship and crowning five individual EIWA champions, Lehigh has qualified six wrestlers for the 95th NCAA Championships, Mar. 19-21 at Rocket Arena in Cleveland. The Mountain Hawks' five individual champions were graduate student Sheldon Seymour (125), sophomores Luke Stanich (141) and Logan Rozynski (157), and seniors Max Brignola (165) and Nathan Taylor (285). Brignola won his first conference title while everyone else won their second. Rylan Rogers also qualified for the NCAA Championships with a third place finish at 184. Five of Lehigh's six qualifiers earned top 10 seeds, Lehigh's most since having five top 10 seeds in 2018.
Â
The Mountain Hawks have had at least one All-American in 15 of the last 16 years, with Seymour (2025) and Stanich (2024) seeking their second career medals. Lehigh had two All-Americans at last year's NCAA Championships and will be looking to get back into the top 10 for the first time since 2012 after finishing 15th in each of the last two seasons.
Â
Five of Lehigh's six NCAA qualifiers have previous NCAA Tournament experience. Only Rylan Rogers at 184 will be making his NCAA Championships debut. Sheldon Seymour is a returning All-American after taking sixth place at 125 last year. Luke Stanich makes his second NCAA appearance after finishing fifth at 125 in 2024. Max Brignola and Nathan Taylor are appearing in their third NCAA Championships, while Logan Rozynski will wrestle in his second straight tournament.
Â
Behind five individual champions and eight top-four place winners Lehigh captured its second consecutive EIWA team title and 40th overall with a triumph March 6-7 at American's Bender Arena. The Mountain Hawks went 5-0 in finals bouts and racked up 163.5 points, outpacing second place Navy by 28 points. Graduate student Sheldon Seymour (125), sophomores Luke Stanich (141) and Logan Rozynski (157) and senior Nathan Taylor (285) all won their second career EIWA titles, while senior Max Brignola won his first at 165. A 5-2 semifinal round helped Lehigh move past Navy into the top spot and the Mountain Hawks never looked back. Junior Rylan Rogers qualified for the NCAA Championships with a third place finish at 184. Senior Carter Bailey (149) and graduate student JT Davis (197) secured fourth place finishes, while sophomore Richie Grungo finished seventh at 174.
Â
In addition to its five individual champions and team championship, Lehigh picked up three major awards at the EIWA Championships. Senior Nathan Taylor captured two awards, the Sheridan Award, for the most falls in the fastest time in the championship bracket, with one in 47 seconds, and the Fletcher Trophy for most career team points scored at the EIWA Championships. Taylor also wo the Sheridan Award in 2024 and is the first Lehigh wrestler to claim the Fletcher Trophy since Jordan Wood won it in both 2021 and 2022. In addition, Lehigh head coach Pat Santoro was selected as the EIWA Coach of the Year for the seventh time in 18 seasons.
Â
A 2-0 showing against ranked opponents at the Collegiate Wrestling Duals in Nashville lifted graduate student Sheldon Seymour to EIWA Wrestler of the Week honors right before the Christmas holiday. Victories over Spencer Moore (Illinois) and Stevo Poulin (Iowa State) moved Seymour to 8-0 on the season. An EIWA champion and All-American in 2025, Seymour owns an impressive 41-6 mark over the last two seasons and is 25-2 in duals during that span. He won his second straight EIWA title and enters the NCAA Tournament at 19-0.
Â
Sophomore Luke Stanich delivered a gold medal performance in freestyle at the U20 World Championships in August in Samokov, Bulgaria. Stanich went 5-0 across two days at 65 kg to claim the world title. An EIWA champion and All-American at 125 in 2024, Stanich deferred his eligibility last season, going 12-1 in unattached competition while moving up to 141. He returned to action Jan. 10 after battling back from an injury suffered during his world title run. Stanich enters the NCAA Championships at 13-0 on the season, having won his second straight EIWA title behind three major decisions.
Â
One of the highlights for Lehigh at the National Duals Invitational was an impressive victory by sophomore Logan Rozynski over Nebraska's Antrell Taylor, the reigning NCAA champion at 157. Rozynski secured a late takedown and four point near fall in the first period to lead 7-0 and went on to post a 9-1 major decision for the Mountain Hawks. The win vaulted Rozynski into the top 12 of the national rankings. He was named EIWA Wrestler of the Week on Nov. 25. Rozynski has now won EIWA titles in each of his first two seasons at Lehigh.
Â
Senior Max Brignola returned to the Lehigh lineup at 165 after deferring his eligibility last season. Brignola is now a three-time NCAA qualifier who used his deferred year to move up to 165 after competing at 157 in 2023-24. He went 15-0 last season competing unattached in open tournaments and won six tournament titles. Brignola debuted with two technical fall victories at Journeymen WrangleMania and went 2-1 at the National Duals Invitational. He was the only Mountain Hawk to wrestle in all 18 duals during the regular season. The EIWA Champion is seeded seventh with his 17-4 overall record.
Â
After more than a year away from competition, heavyweight Nathan Taylor returned to action Dec. 5 against Pittsburgh with a 5-4 decision over Dayton Pitzer. Taylor went 2-0 in his return weekend with ranked wins over Pitzer and Penn State's Cole Mirasola. A 2024 EIWA Champion and NCAA round of 12 finisher, Taylor suffered a season-ending injury at the 2024 Journeymen Collegiate Classic and needed nearly 13 months to return. Taylor is the No. 6 seed at 285 and is 16-3 this season. He won his second EIWA title in Washington, knocking off two ranked opponents in the process.
Â
With five top 10 seeds and nobody seeded lower than 16th, Seymour will likely be the first Mountain Hawk on the mats in the round of 32 at 125.
Â
Lehigh has the sixth most NCAA Champions (28) and the eighth most All-Americans (165) of all Division I wrestling programs. The Brown and White have never won the NCAA Team Championship, coming as close as second in 1939, third in 1965, 1979 and a tie for third in 2004. Lehigh last finished in the top 10 at the NCAA Championships in 2012 and last finished in the top five in 2004.
