Bethlehem, PA – The Mountain Hawks have faced a litany of tough competition this season, already wrestling ten opponents in the top 25. Hopefully, all those tough matches have steeled the team to face its biggest test this weekend when they travel to
Lehigh has faced OSU four times and has never beaten the Cowboys, but comes into Sunday’s match with the personnel to certainly make this match interesting. Two matches in particular will be of particular importance to Lehigh’s chances, as top-ranked and undefeated Troy Letters (24-0) will take on
In the other top-rated match at 174, Lehigh’s Brad Dillon, ranked No. 4 and also sporting an unblemished record (22-0), will face off against No. 1 Chris Pendleton (27-0), who he beat last year in the NCAA’s by a close 3-2 decision.
For Lehigh to win, they will certainly need to snare victories in those two classes, for they will certainly have their work cut out for them in other weights as well. Two other weight classes will pit top-15 opponents, as No. 13 Derek Zinck will take on No. 4 Johny Hendricks at 157 and No. 11 Travis Frick will go up against defending national champion Jake Rosholt at 184, who is currently ranked No. 4.
Other ranked matchups will pit No. 14 Mario Stuart against No. 17 Cory Stites at 125 and No. 20 Matt Ciasulli against two-time defending national champion and current No. 6 Johnny Thompson at 133.
Lehigh has won eight straight duals and 12 of their last thirteen matches.
