Lehigh sixth after day one of P.L. championships

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Lehigh senior Jason Moloney shot a four-over par 75 to lead the Mountain Hawks in the first round of play at the 2006 Patriot League men’s golf championship at the Navy Golf Course on Saturday afternoon. The event was scheduled for 27 holes on Saturday, but play was suspended during the second round due to heavy rains in the Mid-Atlantic. Bucknell shot a 299 in the opening round, and the Bison have a four-stroke lead over second place Army. Lehigh is sixth, with a 319 after one round.

Individually, the Bison’s Charles Waddel shot a two-under par 69 to sit atop the leader board through 18 holes.

Moloney’s 75 places him in a third place tie through day one. Junior Alan Borowsky and freshman Will Robinson each shot an 80 through the first 18 holes to sit in a tie for 22nd place. Freshman Jon Abramson shot an 84, junior Ross Feldman an 85, and freshman Greg Feldman an 89 to round out the Lehigh scoring.

Weather permitting, action resumes Sunday morning from the Navy Golf Course in Annapolis. Golfers will complete the second round beginning at 9 am. Play on the final 18 holes is estimated to get underway at approximately 1:00 pm.
