Lehigh held its annual awards dinner last week, and three Lehigh student-athletes garnered recognition, in a program that included dinner, presentation of awards, and reflections from the on the recently-completed season. The Scholar-Athlete Award goes to the student-athlete who in the eyes of his/her teammates exemplifies the ideal of the scholar-athlete. This year’s winner was senior Drew LaVine, who has posted a 3.34 grade point average as a history major. LaVine has battled through injuries to remain a key component of the squad on the links. Junior Patrick McCahill won the Coaches Award at the banquet, which is presented to the individual who made significant contributions to the well being of the team in terms of attitude, improvement, or special leadership. McCahill has been a model of consistency on the course over his first three seasons at Lehigh.
Freshman Alan Borowsky captured the Athlete of the Year Award, which is presented to the team member who makes the most outstanding athletic contribution to the accomplishments of the team. Borowsky paced the team in several tournaments over the course of the season, earning All-Patriot League recognition for his stellar play at the league’s championship tournament.
