Lehigh men and women produce solid results

Annapolis, MD – The Lehigh men’s and women’s golf teams both faired well in their second tournaments of the spring season. The men traveled to Annapolis, Maryland for the Navy Spring Invitational and grabbed fourth place out of the 20 team field. The women finished sixth of nine teams at the Bucknell Spring Invitational in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.
The men finished fourth in a very talented field of teams. The Mountain Hawks finished only behind Minnesota, Navy, and Princeton with 636 total score. Minnesota recorded a 605 to win the tournament. If not for another rough first day, senior Bowen Osborn might have been in contention for the individual championship as he shot a round high 75 on Sunday. Osborn shot an 82 on Saturday and was forced to play catch-up in the second round. Osborn’s 157 total was good enough for a tie of 16th with four other golfers including teammate Ron Kashlak who shot a 77 on Saturday and an 80 on Sunday. Consistent play in the low eighties and high seventies by Mike Eglit, Rob McMenimon, and Patrick McCahill guided Lehigh to the fourth place finish.
The women’s team, in its first season as a varsity sport, finished sixth out of nine teams at the Bucknell Spring Invitational. Alexis Foucek led the Mountain Hawks with a 195. Foucek finished 27th overall, one point of ahead of teammate Danielle Kochenour who shot a 196 and tied for 28th. Kochenour shot a 103 on Saturday but rebounded with a 93 on Sunday.
The Lehigh men return to action this Friday and Saturday at the Princeton Invitational while the women will take part in the Hartford Women’s Invitational on Sunday and Monday.
