Lehigh begins Navy Invite with strong showing

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Lehigh had a strong showing on day one of the Navy Invite on Saturday as the Mountain Hawks shot a 295 and currently sit in third place in the 18 school tournament. Freshman Doug Marcincin sits in fifth place after shooting a 72 on day one, while senior Will Robinson is right behind him in a tie for tenth place with a 73 on the par-71 course. Binghamton currently leads the field with a score of 289, while Johnson & Wales is in second with a 290. The Mountain Hawks check in third, followed by St. Joseph’s and St. Francis (Pa.) with identical scores of 299.
Steve Suarez leads the remaining contingent of Mountain Hawk golfers as he sits in a tie for 22nd place with a 75, as does senior captain Shane Gilroy. Duncan Zeiders shot an 81 on the first 18 holes and is tied for 77th place overall.
Binghamton’s P. Stoie Donovan shot an impressive 69 on the first day to claim first place, while his teammate Trevor Fiedler and Johnson & Wales’ Nathan Leonhardt are close behind after both shot a 71.
Final round action gets underway on Sunday morning.
