BETHLEHEM, Pa. - A well-rested and refreshed Lehigh football team returns to the gridiron on Saturday afternoon as the Mountain Hawks open a four game homestand versus the Princeton Tigers at Goodman Stadium on Kids Day. Lehigh is searching for its first win of the season after falling at No. 3 Villanova its last time out on September 12. The Mountain Hawks welcome a Princeton team that fell at home last weekend to The Citadel by a 38-7 score in a game in which the Tigers trailed only 10-7 with just over five minutes remaining in the third quarter. These teams have not met at Goodman Stadium since 2006 and have split the last four meetings overall.
Since the start of last season the Mountain Hawks have averaged 29 points and 311 total yards in six home games. In seven road contests during that time Lehigh is averaging only 21 points and 291 total yards.
Lehigh’s four game homestand is its longest since playing five straight at home during the 1991 season. The Brown and White went 4-1 during that stretch, defeating the likes of Dartmouth, Northeastern, Penn and William & Mary.
College football coaches around the country, including Lehigh’s Andy Coen, will join to fight one opponent on Saturday - Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. By wearing an arm band with the Coach to Cure MD insignia, coaches will show their support for Coach to Cure MD, the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) charitable project. Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is the most common fatal genetic disorder diagnosed during childhood. Because the Duchenne gene is found on the X-chromosome, it primarily affects boys and occurs across all races and cultures. For more on this effort, please click on the link above.
Saturday’s game kicks off just after 12:30 inside Goodman Stadium. Kids Day activities such as inflatable games and rides, face painting and an emergency vehicle display will take place in front of the stadium from 11:00 am until 12:15 pm. After the game, members of the Lehigh football team will sign autographs for kids underneath the scoreboard.
All fans are encouraged to bring new or gently used children's books for donation to the St. Luke's / Lehigh Athletics' Reading Rocks! program. Books will be collected at the St. Luke's vehicle near the Kids Day activity area
Plenty of tickets are still available for the contest and can be purchased in one of three ways: by calling 610-7LU-GAME, by visiting the Lehigh Athletics Ticket Office, located in Grace Hall, or by logging onto Lehighsports.com.
