BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For the third time in as many months, Lehigh senior defensive lineman Brian Jackson has been named a preseason All-American. The latest recognition, which was released on Wednesday, comes from College Sporting News. Jackson is one of four Patriot League student-athletes named to the CSN preseason All-America teams, and was selected the highest of the four as a Second-Team pick.
A native of New Jersey, Jackson also received preseason All-America honors from the Sports Network and Consensus Draft Services. In 2007, Jackson totaled 63 tackles, including nine for loss, and a team-leading five-and-a-half sacks. The biology major registered a season-best ten tackles in the season opener versus Villanova, and had at least five tackles in every game but two. Jackson also forced two fumbles during the season and finished second on the squad in total tackles.
Jackson and his Mountain Hawk teammates open the 2008 season on Saturday, September 6 when they play host to the Drake Bulldogs at Goodman Stadium. Kick-off is set for 12:30 and tickets can be purchased in one of three ways: by calling 610-7LU-GAME, by visiting the Lehigh Athletics Ticket Office, located in Grace Hall during the hours of 10 and 4, or by logging onto Lehighsports.com.
