Lehigh looks for third straight win vs. Marist

Sophomore Inneke Carmola, the reigning Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week, had one of her best all-around games of the season versus Navy, scoring four goals and handing out two assists. The
Playing alongside Carmola are freshman Lauren Dykstra and junior Sara MacIntyre. Dykstra has scored 47 goals, which ties MacIntyre’s record for the most goals by a freshman in program history. The first year standout has netted at least one goal in every game including three in the win over Navy. MacIntyre has scored 29 goals in 2008, pushing her career total to 110. She has added 29 ground balls and 29 draw controls.
Sophomore Jen Ingalls, the league’s Defensive Player of the Week, has totaled 29 ground balls, 17 draw controls and a team-leading 13 caused turnovers. Ingalls helped anchor a Lehigh “D” that held the Patriot League’s leading offense to just three second half goals over the weekend.
Senior Seana Smith (22 ground balls, 10 CTs), junior Sarah Fudin (29 ground balls, 13 CTs) and sophomore Carolyn Von Heil (19 ground balls, 3 CTs) give Lehigh a strong quartet of talent and experience on the defensive side.
In goal for the Mountain Hawks, sophomore Kelsy Ferris has stopped 132 shots in 687 minutes of action. The league’s Goalkeeper of the Week, Ferris currently has a save percentage of .498, having faced 322 shots for the season.
After losing four straight in March, Marist has rebounded to win its last three games. The Red Foxes feature a balanced offense with five different players having scored double digit goals, led by Lindsey Diener’s 25. Diener also leads Marist in assists (19) and points (44), while Stephanie Garland has also reached double figures in both categories with 14 goals and ten assists.
Liz Burkhard, the team’s starting goal keeper, is the leader in ground balls with 26, while posting a save percentage of .477 in net. She has stopped 116 shots in 604 minutes of work. A trio of Red Foxes, Jessica O’Brien, Nicole Musto and Morgan Dillon have caused ten turnovers apiece, with Liz Falco leading the team in draw controls with 24.
Lehigh and Marist will meet for the first-time ever on Tuesday evening beginning at 7:00 from the Ulrich Sports Complex. All of the action will be broadcast live on Lehighsports.com with Robbie Aaron ’09 and Lehigh head field hockey coach Julie Mazer on the call.
