- Seventh Season
Julie Mazer is set to enter her seventh season as head coach at Lehigh, having led the Mountain Hawks to postseason appearances in three of the past five seasons. Mazer has instituted a high energy approach to coaching at Lehigh, which includes an up tempo and aggressive style of play on the field and a strenuous strength and conditioning program off of it. In six seasons, she has produced 17 All-Patriot League selections, including eight first-teamers; and two All-Region performers.
In 2007, Mazer guided the Mountain Hawks to eight victories and Lehigh’s best Patriot League finish in over a decade. Led by two-time All-Region selection Christy Smith, the 2007 Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year, Lehigh enjoyed its highest league finish in eleven years. The Mountain Hawks’ four All-League players in 2007 are tied for the most in school history.
In 2004, Mazer led Lehigh to its first Patriot League Tournament appearance since 1996, eight victories on their home turf, a remarkable 27 more goals than the previous year and the program’s highest goal total (49) since 1986.
The offense is the not only area that has picked up under Mazer, as the Mountain Hawks recorded the largest shut out victory in school history in 2004 with a 9-0 blanking of Robert Morris and produced all-league goal keeper Meghan Gove in 2005.
Mazer’s leadership and ability to motivate extends beyond the playing field, with 62 student-athletes having been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll during her time on South Mountain, including senior Sheila Clabby, who was honored by the league as the 2004 Scholar Athlete of the Year.
In her inaugural season of 2003, Mazer guided Lehigh to three more victories than the year previous to her arrival and coached one All-Patriot League and All-Region selection in Blaire Goodwin.
Mazer, who is the sixth coach in Lehigh history, came to the Mountain Hawks after a successful run at Roanoke College in Virginia, where she enjoyed a great deal of success. As head coach of the Maroons, Mazer guided the team to its first ever Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2002, while also finishing at No. 19 in the national rankings. Mazer led
