Robinson named MVP in loss to Lafayette

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh and Lafayette met in its annual dual meet on Saturday afternoon at Moravian College, and the Leopards came out on top winning both the men’s and women’s events.  The Lehigh women fell 116-87, while the men were edged out by Lafayette 105-98.  Scott Robinson was named the MVP of the men’s race, while Asia Hollis received the honor for Lafayette women.

 

Robinson picked up two wins on the day for the Mountain Hawks, as he took first in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.79 seconds, and he finished first in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 53.99 seconds.  His time in the 110 meter hurdles was a new personal best and also qualified him for the IC4A Championships in May.  He also picked up a second place finish in the high jump, clearing 6 feet 4 inches.

 

In other men’s running events, Kyle Manning earned a first place finish in the 800 meter run.  His time of 1:53.40 was a new personal best and the seventh-best time in school history.  Dan McClimon picked up a first place finish in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 14:49.66.  In the steeplechase, Matt Sheridan was narrowly edged out by Ryan Stasiowski, who finished with a time of 9:28.06, just 0.27 seconds ahead of Sheridan.

 

In the men’s field events, Lehigh won five events.  Mark Mattei took first in the hammer throw, with a distance of 48.29 meters.  Nick Ray won the shot put, throwing 15.75 meters, just 0.01 meters ahead of Connor McGee of Lafayette.  Ray’s distance also qualified him for the IC4A Championships.

 

James Pachucki took home first place in the javelin throw, with a distance of 59.74 meters.  Khalil Uqdah won the pole vault, as he cleared a career best 15 feet.  In the triple jump, Franklin Johnson won the event with a distance of 14.14 meters.

 

On the women’s side, Lehigh had three individual winners in the running events, as well as first place finish in the 4x400 meter relay race.  Shannon Alejandro claimed first place in the 1,500 meter run, with a time of 4:42.13.  Sarah Serwo just missed the ECAC qualifying mark in the 800 meter run, with a first place time of 2:14.66.  Alexis Weiner also picked up a first place finish, winning the 5,000 meter run with a time of 18:15.38.

 

In the women’s field events, Emily Roth claimed the only event win for the Mountain Hawks, clearing 11 feet in the pole vault.

 

The Mountain Hawks return to action next weekend when they travel to Lewisburg, Pa. for the Bucknell Distance Classic & Multi.  The two day meet is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. on April 11.
