Lehigh comes in 2nd and 3rd in first outdoor meet

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Lehigh opened its outdoor season at Navy on Saturday, and both the men’s and women’s had strong finishes, as the men came in third place with 58 points, and the women came in second with 185.50 points.  The Midshipmen took first place on both the men’s and women’s side.  Khalil Uqdah had the top finish on the day for the Mountain Hawks, coming in first in the pole vault.  His height of 5.05 meters was his personal best and the second best height in school history.

 

Dominic Aversa also posted his personal best in the pole vault, coming in second place in the event, with a height of 4.30 meters.  In the 5,000 meter run, Dan McClimon came in third place, crossing the finish line with a personal best time of 14:56.04.  Ben Lampi came in right behind McClimon with a time of 15:01.27.

 

In the shot put, Nick Ray posted a personal best distance of 14.10 meters, coming in fourth place.  Tim Dempsey and Mark Mattei came in fifth and sixth with distances of 13.42 and 13.40 meters respectively. 

 

On the women’s side, Latasha Watson picked up a first place finish in the 400 meter run, with a time of 57.86 seconds.  She also posted a second place finish in the long jump, clearing 5.35 meters.

 

In the 1,500 meter run Alexis Weiner posted a career best time of 4:46.99, coming in second place. She was followed closely by Sarah Serwo, who crossed the finish line in 4:50.44.  Shannon Alejandro also had a first place finish, winning the 5,000 meter run with a time of 17:32.60.

 

The teams return to action next weekend when they travel to Rock Hill, S.C. for the Winthrop Invitational.
