School record falls at New Balance Invite

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The men’s and women’s track and field teams competed in two meets over the weekend.  At the New Balance Collegiate Invitational, Lehigh had four IC4A qualifiers, as well as the women’s distance medley team, who broke the school record with a time of 12:11.01.  Lehigh also competed in the Cornell Invitational, and the men’s 4x800 meter relay team posted the Mountain Hawks only win at the event.

 

Freshman Dan McClimon qualified for the IC4A in the 3,000 meter run, by posting a personal best time of 10:11.48, at the New Balance Invite.  Kyle Manning also qualified for the IC4A, finishing the 1,000 meter run with a personal best time of 2:29.04.  The men’s distance medley team also qualified for the IC4A by finishing its race in third place with a time of 10:14.33.

 

On the women’s side at the New Balance Invite, Sarah Serwo posted the fourth best time in school history in the 800 meter run, by finishing the race in 2:18.53; beating her personal best time by 0.2 seconds.  Shannon Alejandro had a personal best time in the 3,000 meter run, finishing the race in 10:11.48.

 

At the Cornell Invite, Latasha Watson finished fourth in the 200 meter run, with a personal best time of 26.56.  Kate McLaughlin cleared 1.60 meters in the high jump, for the fourth best height in school history.

 

For the men, the 4x800 meter relay finished the race in 7:53.00, almost four seconds ahead of the second place team from Delhi.  Carl Leunig took third in the 5,000 meter run, with a time of 5:29.00.

 

The Mountain Hawks return to action next weekend, when they travel back to New York, for the Lafayette-Ride Invite at the New York Armory.
