Lehigh finishes first day at ECAC/IC4A’s

BOSTON, Mass. – Lehigh opened competition at the ECAC/IC4A Championships at Boston University, and after the first day the men are in 12th place.  The Mountain Hawks had two athletes participate in final events during the day.  Khalil Uqdah took third place in the pole vault, clearing 4.90 meters.  Dan McClimon finished 28th in the 3,000 meter run, crossing the finish line in 8:28.21.

 

Through four events of the men’s heptathlon, E.J. Schuck was in eighth place with 2,741 points.  Schuck’s top finish in the heptathlon events was a fourth place finish in the high jump.  He jumped 1.88 meters in the event, just 0.22 behind the leader. 

 

In the trials of the 500 meter run Scott Robinson came in 15th, with a finish of 1:03.91.  Kyle Manning had a ninth place finish in the prelims of the 800 meter run, crossing the finish line in 1:51.32.  His time qualified him for the finals on Sunday.

 

On the women's side, Sarah Serwo finished 16th in the prelims of the 800 meter run, with a time of 2:15.87.  Serwo also ran on the 4x800 meter relay team that finished fifth, with a time of 9:08.29.  The team of Serwo, Jennifer Therkorn, Shannon Alejandro and Jillian Randolph qualified for the finals with that time, and finished just three seconds behind the first place team.

 

Competition wraps up on Sunday, beginning with the rest of the men’s heptathlon events at 10 a.m.
