LEWISBURG, Pa. – Six athletes met ECAC and IC4A meet qualifications on Friday and Saturday as Lehigh’s men’s and women’s track and field teams competed at the 2007 Bison Outdoor Classic on the campus of Bucknell, which was an unscored meet.  Seniors Carolyn House and Jenni Schappert both met ECAC standards, while seniors Sean Swift and Greg Horn and freshmen Khalil Uqdah and Nick Ray met IC4A standards.

House and Schappert became the first pair of Mountain Hawk women to meet the qualifying standards for the ECAC meet this season that will take place on May 11-13.  House ran 36:59.44 in the 10,000 meter run and placed fifth.  The ECAC standard is 37:40.00.  Meanwhile, Schappert took fourth in the 5000 meter run with a time of 17:06.72.  The ECAC standard for that event is 17:26.14.

Also on the women’s side, Lehigh had five performances that placed in the top five.  Sophomores Lindsey Corbetta and Sarah Serwo each finished third in the 200 meter dash and 800 meter run, respectively.  Freshman Ashlee Atwell took third in the pole vault, while junior Emily Roth finished right behind her in fourth.  The Mountain Hawk women also had a pair of fifth place finishes from freshman Kathryn McLaughlin in the high jump and the 4x100 meter relay team consisting of junior Rachel Stewart, senior Nicole Montegary, freshman Kimberly Simenson and Corbetta.

For the men, Swift met the IC4A qualifying standard in the 5000 meter run, Horn in the 400 meter hurdles, Uqdah in the pole vault and Ray in the shot put.  Swift placed eighth in a time of 14:16.72 (IC4A 5000 meter run standard-14:37.00), while Horn finished in third in a time of 53.93, .01 of a second faster than the IC4A standard.  Uqdah was fourth in the pole vault and met the IC4A standard by jumping 15’7”.  Meanwhile, Ray launched a 51’9¾” throw in the shot put to place fifth.  The IC4A standard is 51’2¼”.  The IC4A meet is also scheduled to take place May 11-13.
