Lehigh splits with archrival Lafayette on track

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh and Lafayette got together on the outdoor track on Friday afternoon and split, as the Mountain Hawk men won 104-96, while the Lehigh women fell 122-81 to the Leopards.  Individual champions for the women were Jen Schappert, who took the title in the 1,500-meters with a time of 4:35.10, Nicole Montegary in the 100-meter hurdles and long jump, and K.T. Hessler in the high jump.  For the men, David Falk won the 200-meters, Brian Ahearn took first in the 400 and Garrett Zambrows won the 800-meter run.

 

On the men’s side, Victor Vientos took first place in the 5000-meters, crossing in a time of 15:16.05, while freshman Scott Robinson won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 53.18 seconds.  Sean Swift took the crown in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Vaclav Malek won the high jump and Craig Percopo took first in the pole vault. 

 

Meanwhile for the women, Lindsey Corbetta came in second in the 100-meter dash, and Laura Tom duplicated that finish in the 200-meters.  Karen Welby crossed in a time of 2:18.8 in the 800-meters, good for second, and Hessler finished second in the 400-meter hurdles.

Lehigh will be back in action on Friday, April 14 when the Mountain Hawks travel to Lewisburg to compete in the Bucknell Invitational.
