Lehigh heads west to compete in Bison Classic

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Lehigh took part in the Bison Outdoor Classic this weekend as the Mountain Hawks continued their 2006 season.  Individual winners were the 4x100-meter relay team of Laura Tom, Allison Grese, Nicole Montegary and Lindsey Corbetta took first place overall, crossing in a time of 48.48 seconds, while the 4x800 team of Karen Welby, Jen Therkorn, Sarah Serwo and Elizabeth Robinson also took first, as the quartet completed the run in 9:40.73, and Jen Schappert won the 5,000-meters with a time of 17:07.  Garrett Zambrows took first in the 800-meters for the Lehigh men, with a time of 1:53.87.

 

For the Lehigh women, Corbetta placed second in the 100-meter dash, crossing the finish line in a time of 12.29 seconds, and she followed that up with a third place finish in the 200-meters, crossing in a time of 25.74 seconds.  Tom and Grese finished fifth and sixth, respectively in the 200-meters, and Welby took fifth place in the 800-meters, with a time of 2:14.97.  Montegary raced her way to a third place finish in the 400-meter hurdles, as the New Jersey native finished in a time of 1:02.81 and the 4x400-meter relay team of Tom, K.T. Hessler, Maria Dillon and Montegary crossed in a time of 4:04.89, good for fifth place overall.   Hessler then tied for fourth place in the high jump, clearing 5’1”.

 

On the men’s side of things, David Falk finished fifth in the 200-meters, as he crossed in a time of 22.11 seconds, and teammate Pete Marchildon finished third in the 400-meters, with a time of 49.78 seconds.  Captain Vaclav Malek finished sixth in the 110-meter hurdles, as the senior finished in a time of 15.20 seconds, and the 4x100-meter relay team of Craig Percopo, Waleed Amer, Austin Wade and Falk took fourth place.  Amer, Scott Robinson, Zambrows and Greg Horn then went onto capture third place honors in the 4x400-meters, and Malek added a third place finish in the high jump to his list of accomplishments for the weekend.

Lehigh will return to action on April 22 when the Mountain Hawks travel to the Jersey Shore to compete in the Monmouth Invitational in West Long Branch, New Jersey.
