Mountain Hawks host the Lehigh Games

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – In its final tune up before next weekend’s league championships, Lehigh hosted the 2006 Lehigh Games on Saturday afternoon at the track on the Goodman Campus.  Individual winners for the Brown and White were Alison Sanchez, who took first in the 5000-meters with a time of 19:29.64 as she won her first-ever collegiate event.  Nicole Montegary won the 100-meter hurdles, as the junior crossed in a time of 14.70 seconds, and Kirsten Wert won the 3,000-meter steeplechase crossing in a time of 11:56.74.  Brian Ahearn took first in the 400 crossing in a time of 1:51.20 and Rob Hampson won the 1500-meters, with a time of 3:59.22. 

 

For the women, Sara Serwo, Jen Therkorn and Shannon Alejandro finished one-two-three in the 800-meters, while Sarah Seiler took second in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:53.47.  Theresa Fromm finished third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.00 and Caitlyn Kennedy took second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, crossing in a time of 12:11.59.  K.T. Hessler then went onto win the high jump, clearing 5’5”.

 

On the men’s side, Pete Marchildon took second in the 200 with a time of 22.30 seconds and Garrett Zambrows finished in second in the 400 with a time of 1:52.  Dave Merola and Luke Clay finished second and third respectively in the 1500-meters, and Ben Lami and Daniel DeWitt weren’t far behind, coming in fifth and sixth place, respectively.  Greg Horn captured first place honors in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.70 seconds and Cody Smart won the high jump, clearing 6’7”.  Steve Has finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 40’5 ½” and Mark Mattei and Matthew Kostyal came in fourth and fifth place respectively in the hammer throw.

Lehigh returns to action next weekend when the Mountain Hawks travel to Worcester, Mass. to compete in the 2006 Patriot League Championships hosted by the College of the Holy Cross.  Action is set to get underway on Friday, May 5.
