Mountain Hawks upended by Bison in Lewisburg

Lehigh received two goals from Christy Smith and one each from Amy Chamberlain, Sara MacIntyre and Heather McArthur, with Chamberlain handing out the team’s lone assist on the afternoon. The Mountain Hawks were outshot 36-17 for the game and scooped up 28 ground balls to the Bison’s 38. The Brown and White was 13 of 26 in clear attempts and won just five draw controls.
Smith got Lehigh on the board first just 32 seconds into the contest, but from there Bucknell scored the game’s next seven goals to go in front 7-1 with 6:17 left in the opening half. Smith and MacIntyre scored back-to-back goals for the Mountain Hawks to make it a 7-3 ballgame, but the Bison tacked on two more goals in the final 14 seconds to take a 9-3 lead into halftime.
The Mountain Hawks again opened the second half hot, scoring the first two goals, one from McArthur and another from Chamberlain, which made the score 9-5 with 14:05 remaining. Bucknell had an answer though, netting the game’s final six goals to roll to its third straight victory.
Sophomore Brittany Besler played all 60 minutes in goal for the Brown and White, stopping 12 shots along the way, while senior Eileen Miller scooped up a team high five ground balls. Bucknell’s goal keeper Lizzy McDaniel made ten saves on the afternoon, with Colleen Evans leading the team in ground balls with seven. A trio of Bucknell players scored three goals each, including Jackie Bodnar, Sarah Collins and Emily Burman.
