Lehigh falls to Columbia in the Big Apple

NEW YORK – After being down by just three scores at halftime, Lehigh allowed 15 second half goals to Columbia, and fell by a score of 21-10 on Wednesday evening to drop the Mountain Hawks to 6-9 on the season, and end their hopes for a postseason berth. Freshman Sara MacIntyre and Meagan Tenety led the Brown and White with three scores each, while Kate Lombard netted a game-high six goals for the Lions, who even their record at 7-7.
Lehigh was out shot 31-29 on the evening, scooped up 24 ground balls to the Lions 25, and won 15 draw controls. The Mountain Hawks forced
Tenety then scored off of a feed from Amy Chamberlain and Lehigh found itself in front 3-2 with just less than 18 minutes remaining in the half. From there,
The Lions netted the second half’s first two scores and went in front 8-3, before King scored on a free position shot to slice the lead in half at 8-4 with 28 minutes to go. Lehigh would not score again however, until Tenety netted her second score of the night with 19 minutes to go, making the score 14-5 in favor of the home team. The Mountain Hawks then scored two of the next three goals, one each from Chamberlain and MacIntyre, making the score 15-7 with 15:20 remaining.
