BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh and Lafayette competed in their annual meet on Saturday afternoon, and like last season, the longtime rivals split, as the Mountain Hawk men won 101-80, while the Lehigh women fell 103-77.  Nicole Montegary, Rob Hampson and David Falk each posted multiple first place finishes on the day, as the Lehigh men defeated Lafayette for the first time since 2001, while the women saw their two-year run come to an end.

On the women’s side, Montegary took first in the 200 with a time of 26.63, good for five team points, and she added the 60-meter hurdles to her list of first-place finishes, while Jen Schappert raced her way to a first place finish in the one-mile run as she crossed in 5:02.92.  Senior Karen Welby won the 1000-meters, with a time of 3:06.22 and classmate K.T. Hessler cleared 5’3” in the high jump, good for first place and five team points.

In the men’s competition, David Falk won both the 60 and 200-meters, giving the Mountain Hawks ten team points, while freshman Scott Robinson took first in the 400 in his first-ever Lehigh-Lafayette dual.  Garrett Zambrows won the 500-meters with a time of 1:07.48, while senior Rob Hampson took first in the one-mile run, crossing in 4:19.04 and he added a first-place finish in the 3000-meters later on with a time of 8:39.28.  Brian Ahearn won the 1000-meters and Vaclav Malek took first in the 60-meter hurdles and the high jump.  Senior Craig Percopo cleared 13’5” ¼ in the pole vault for first, and the 4x400 team picked up five team points, finishing in 3:30.59.
