Mountain Hawks host the Lehigh Games

Bethlehem, PA – In its final tune up before the Patriot League Championships, Lehigh hosted the Lehigh Games on the Goodman Campus on Saturday afternoon, the day after coming back from the 2005 Penn Relays in Philadelphia.  Sarah Seiler and Andrea Luebbe were the Mountain Hawks top female finishers as the duo came in one-two in the 1500-meter run with times of 4:47.09 and 4:47.36 respectively, while Victor Vientos won the event on the men’s side with a time of 3:58.84.  Other schools that competed in the unscored meet were Millersville, Monmouth, Bucknell, Muhlenberg, Bloomsburg, Moravian, Kutztown and Rider.

 

On the women’s side, Laura Tom crossed the finish line in a time of 27.21 seconds to take third place in the 200-meter dash, while Jennifer Steacy finished the 800-meter run in a time of 2:17.91, also placing her in third place.  Deanna Willard and Kirsten Wert placed third and fourth in the 3000-meter steeplechase, as Willard finished in 11:36 and Wert 12:11.  Lauren Edwards tied for first place in the high jump, as she cleared 5’2” and in the long jump, Khayla Lowe finished third and Lindsay Hinsch fourth.

 

For the Lehigh men, David Falk finished the 200-meter dash in a time of 22.91 seconds, placing him in third place, while Brian Ahearn completed the 400-meter dash in 50.39 seconds, placing him in fifth place.  Dave Merola took sixth place in the 800-meters, crossing the finish line in a time of 1:55.95 and Luke Crespin completed the 1500-meters in a time of 4:03.79, good for sixth place.  Sam Kirk came in fourth place in the 5000-meter run, as he finished in a time of 15:38.99, and Vaclav Malek took third in the 110-meter hurdles, crossing in a time of 15.32 seconds.  Greg Horn came in second place in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing in 54.50 seconds, while John Heim completed the same race in 57.62 seconds, placing him in fifth place. 

 

Joe Kelly and Patrick Holmes came in three-four in the 3000-meter steeplechase with both finishing in under ten minutes, and Malek cleared 10’11” ¾ in the pole vault, good for fifth place.  In the hammer throw, Nick Maiorino placed second, with a toss of 150’10”, while Matt Mattei, finished third in the javelin, with a throw of 161’2”. 

 

Lehigh returns to action on May 7 when the Mountain Hawks travel to Easton on the campus of Lafayette College to compete in the 2005 Patriot League Outdoor Championships that run through May 8.
