Mountain Hawk men and women place fourth

Bethlehem, PA – Lehigh completed its competition at the Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championships on Sunday, and both the Mountain Hawk men and women finished in fourth place.  On the women’s side, Bucknell won the overall crown, as the Bison racked up 211.50 points, while on the men’s side Navy was the team champion, registering 196 points.  The Lehigh women scored 53 points and the Brown and White men scored 68.

 

On the women’s side, sophomore Jen Schappert raced her way to a third place finish in the 3000-meters, with a time of 10:19.23, and she followed that up with a second place finish in the 5000-meter run, crossing the finish line in a time of 17:35.26. 

 

For the men, senior Lavar Pope took the crown in the 60-meter dash, with a time of 6.94, earning the Brown and White ten team points.  In the 500-meter dash, Brian Ahearn took second with a time of 1:07.00, while Rob Hampson placed third in both the 3000 and 5000-meter races.

Lehigh will return to action on Saturday, March 5, when select Mountain Hawks travel to Boston to compete in the IC4A/ECAC Championships.
