Former Lehigh women’s tennis standout Taylor Hampshire ’14 begins her second season as an assistant coach for the Lehigh men's and women's tennis programs. She was named the full-time assistant for both programs in February 2015. A second team All-Patriot League performer as a freshman, Hampshire twice received Lehigh’s Coaches Award at the year-end women’s tennis banquet. She began the 2014-15 campaign as a graduate assistant working with both programs before being elevated to the assistant positon following a lengthy and comprehensive search.
A Wilmette, Illinois native, Hampshire played No. 1 singles and doubles as a freshman, posting a 5-12 record in both flights. Injuries limited Hampshire to just seven singles matches over her final three years, but Hampshire remained a reliable doubles player for the Mountain Hawks, going 5-7 in 2013 and 7-9 as a senior playing primarily at the No. 2 flight.
Hampshire was a three-time All-Conference performer and three-time All-State doubles player for New Trier Township High School. She comes from an athletic household, as her sister Erin played softball at Northwestern and her mother Karen played tennis at Arizona.
A three-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, Hampshire graduated from Lehigh in May 2014 with a degree in Sociology/Social Psychology.
