Simon Soendergaard

Simon Soendergaard is in his second season as the graduate assistant coach for the Lehigh men's tennis team. He joined the Lehigh coaching staff after playing for North Carolina between 2016-2021. During his UNC career, Soendergaard played between two and six singles and between one and three doubles for the Tar Heels.
Soendergaard was a two-time ITA Team Indoor National Championship Semifinalist (2017 & 2019), an ITA Team Indoor National Championship Runner Up in 2020 and he played a key part in the 2021 ITA Team Indoor National Championship winning team. During the outdoor season, Soendergaard was a playing member of the 2017 NCAA Championship Runner Up team and in 2019 he was a member of the NCAA Championship Semifinalist team.Â
Soendergaard and the Tar Heels finished in the top ten of the national rankings during all five years of his time in Chapel Hill and they reached the No. 1 ranking in the country on more than one occasion.Â
In 2020, Soendergaard earned ITA All-American honors in doubles with Mac Kiger. The pairing reached a career-high No. 3 in the doubles rankings. Soendergaard and Kiger won the 2019 ITA Regional Carolina Championships in doubles and later on in the semester was a doubles semifinalist in the 2019 ITA Fall National Championship.Â
In addition to his commitment to tennis, Soendergaard was named ITA All-Academic Scholar Athlete in 2019. He was also a member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll and a five-time member of the Dean’s List at UNC.Â
After graduating from UNC in May 2021 with a major in Global Studies, Soendergaard began his studies at Lehigh in July of 2022, earning a Master’s of Science in Business Analytics.Â
