Bio
Why Lehigh? “I chose Lehigh University because it felt like the right place for me. Academically it is an elite university with a top-5 wrestling program. The desire and passion for excellence shared by the team was a major deciding factor on my decision. The other deciding factor for me was Coach Santoro.”
On Coach Santoro: “Coach Santoro is the most stand up person I have ever met. I have never met someone who nobody has a negative thing to say about them. Everybody knows how great of a coach he is by the results put out by his teams. What little people know about is who is as a person, he is as dedicated and invested into you as you are to him and the wrestling program.”
In 2015-16: Finished career as a two-time All-American with seventh place NCAA finish… won 26 bouts, scoring bonus points in 13 of those victories… ranked among the Division I leaders with eight wins by technical fall… finished fourth at the EIWA Championships… took second at the Southern Scuffle in early January… competed at NWCA All-Star Classic… received Coaches Award and annual Lewis Wrestling Dinner… named to NWCA All-Academic Team.
In 2014-15: Earned first career All-America honor by reaching NCAA finals at 184… led Mountain Hawks with six falls and 13 bonus wins… finished second with 29 victories… four of six losses were to NCAA Champion… avenged two losses to Pitt’s Max Thomusseit with win in NCAA quarterfinals… ranked in the top five throughout the season… earned first of six falls vs. Dan McDevitt of Penn… pinned Kenny Courts to help Lehigh to 21-18 upset of Ohio State in quarterfinals of NWCA National Duals… named Outstanding Athlete at annual Lewis Wrestling Dinner.
In 2013-14: Deferred eligibility while moving up to 184… went 19-3 competing unattached in open tournaments… won open tournament titles at the East Stroudsburg Open, Shorty Hitchcock Memorial Classic and Edinboro Open… finished third at the Bearcat Open… finished third at the Midlands Championships with only loss coming to eventual NCAA Finalist Jimmy Sheptock of Maryland in overtime… recorded three falls and two technical falls… named Lehigh’s Deferred Eligibility Wrestler of the Year at the annual Lewis Dinner.
In 2012-13: Won EIWA championship at 174 and made first NCAA Tournament appearance… went 1-2 in first NCAA appearance… reached finals at Midlands Championships as the No. 8 seed… went 12-4 in dual meets winning 12 of last 14 dual matches… registered six wins by major decision.
In 2011-12: Started at 174 as a true freshman, posting 17-6 overall record… qualified for NCAA Championships with fourth place finish at EIWA tournament, but was unable to compete due to injury… posted 12 dual meet wins, tying for third-most on the team… won 9-of-11 second semester bouts after missing Midlands due to injury.
In secondary school: 2011 Pennsylvania AA State Champion… three-time state place winner… three-year team captain in wrestling… had 149-13 career record with 95 falls… sophomore national champion… three-time Fargo All-American… also lettered in football (All-State linebacker) and track and field… Lewisburg Athlete of the Year… named Susquehanna Valley Athlete of the Year by the Daily Item… Sun Gazette Athlete of the Year and Football Player of the Year… member of National Honor Society.
