The three Mountain Hawks that earned top eight seeds: junior Sheldon Seymour (125), senior Michael Beard (197) and graduate student Owen Trephan (285) all won their round of 32 bouts to advance in the championship bracket.

The Mountain Hawks went 4-3 in Thursday's afternoon session with sophomore Caden Rogers winning his pigtail round bout at 184.

Lehigh finished Session 1 with seven points, leaving the Mountain Hawks in 12th place.

Beard scored five first-period takedowns to build a 15-4 lead and then added an escape and takedown in the second to defeat Navy's Payton Thomas in a 19-4 technical fall, secured at 3:45. He will next face No. 12 Stephen Little of Little Rock in a rematch from last year's NCAA seventh place match.

Trephan also secured a win by technical fall, defeating Cornell's Ashton Davis 17-2 in 5:39. He will next face Seth Nevills of Maryland in a 4-versus-13 matchup Thursday night.

The first Lehigh wrestler on the mats, Rogers won a 6-3 decision over TJ McDonnell of Oregon State. Rogers picked up a first period takedown plus a second period escape and a pair of stalling points. In the round of 32, Rogers fell to top seed and four-time NCAA Champion Carter Starocci of Penn State by technical fall. He will next face No. 17 Gavin Kane of North Carolina in a first round consolation.

Senior Malyke Hines dropped his first bout at 149 by fall against Jordan Williams of Little Rock. Hines initiated a shot but ended up stuck underneath Williams who secured the fall at 1:43. He will face Mason Shrader of Central Michigan in the consolations Thursday night.
