Lehigh All-Americans Wrap-Up Action At NCAAs In Philadelphia

3/22/2025 2:05:00 PM | Men's Wrestling

PHILADELPHIA – Lehigh's two All-Americans wrapped up competition at the NCAA Championships Saturday at Wells Fargo Center. Graduate student heavyweight Owen Trephan claimed fifth place, while junior Sheldon Seymour finished in sixth place at 125.

The two Mountain Hawks combined to go 1-3 in Saturday's medal round but finish the season by winning Lehigh's 164th and 165th All-America medals.

Trephan wrestled his former NC State teammate and roommate Isaac Trumble in the consolation semifinals. He scored the bout's only takedown in the first period, but a pair of escapes, riding time built from a second period rideout and a stalling point gave Trumble a 4-3 decision.

In the fifth-place match, Trephan was awarded a win by medical forfeit over Penn State's Greg Kerkvliet.

Trephan went 25-2 this season, joining the Mountain Hawks as a graduate transfer in late December. He finishes his career at 85-19.

Seymour came up short in both of his matches Saturday, losing to No. 2 seed Matt Ramos of Purdue 9-2 and then the No. 3 seed Eddie Ventresca of Virginia Tech. He finishes his junior campaign with a 22-6 record.
The Mountain Hawks finished the tournament in 15th place with 29 points. All six of Lehigh's qualifiers won at least one match over the three-day tournament. Seymour and Trephan give Lehigh multiple All-Americans for the second straight season, while seniors Malyke Hines and Michael Beard finished one win shy of a podium place.
Penn State wrapped up its fourth consecutive team title during Saturday's morning session and broke its tournament scoring record from last year with 177 points.

Lehigh is expected to return three of its six NCAA qualifiers from this season, with Caden Rogers and Logan Rozynski joining Seymour, plus five wrestlers who previously competed at the NCAA Championships but did not compete this postseason.
The 2024-25 Lehigh wrestling season is presented by the Historic Hotel Bethlehem.
